Escamouche of Marseille at Tall Ships Parade off Toulon 2007

Many hundreds of boats turn out for a parade of sail to escort the Tall Ships from a port before the start of the race. The Parade of Sail from Toulon was no exception to start with. As a force eight Mistral was blowing from the prevailing North West at the time most of the escorts did not follow out of the shelter of Toulon Rade.

One exception was the ancient gaffer ‘Escarmouche’. Although only set with a jib and reefed mains’le she followed the fleet for all of their parade.

The start of the race was postponed ‘till the next day – Amerigo Vespucci ~ Guayas ~ Stad Amsterdam off Toulon 2007 show the picture of that.
