The last remaining steam Pickett Boat No: 199

The Royal Navy had a number of these boats to guard their warships mainly at anchor, and still has modern ones manned by MOD Police or Royal Marines. This is the last nineteenth century steam boat in existence.

Pickett Boat No:199 is here on station near the square rigger ‘Lord Nelson’, anchored off Yarmouth on the Isle of White. They are both taking part in the 2003 Yogaff festival organized annually for mainly gaff rigged boats.

Photographs of gatherings of boats at regattas which would go with this one include Wooden Masts and Spars at the Dournenez Festival Brittany 2004 and Old Gaffers visit Poole Quay 2004
